Sun/Shade & Urban Development – June 2013

The following relate to urban development and urban design in general, specific projects, and sun/shade issues.  They were derived from our twitter feed ( or @SunPosition).

6/26/13 RT BuzzBuzzHome‏@BuzzBuzzHome:  Grand Park Phase 1, a @PinnacleINTL mega-project, is rising over Mississauga. See our snaps here -

6/26/13 New highrise set to revitalize downtown San Jose -

6/26/13 Shadowing one of concerns about proposed 31-storey high-rise in San Francisco's Rincon Hill Area -

Leigh Buchan‏@lives2talk:  MT Planning Dept shld explain why hght limits R set if developers allowed 2 exceed thm by gr8 amts w/o justification! Good ??

RB:  The additional height has been requested, but this development hasn't been approved yet.

Leigh Buchan‏@lives2talk: As it stands (or may not stand) I hope development not approved. Public parking needed and bldg is plain ugly

6/25/13 Tega’s Hintonburg condo plans shot down by committee -

6/24/13 2 of the top 5 Toronto condos. Congrats @HaririPontarini.

6/20/13 2221 Yonge, 56 storeys - For Toronto condo, a famous name but a less than stellar plan -

RB:  @TheDirtCo Tx for the Favourite and RT.

@TheDirtCo:  Our pleasure. What do you think of the project?

RB:  It will be interesting to see how it fits in with existing and proposed towers in that area on that side of Yonge.

6/19/13 The City of Toronto has introduced a new set of guidelines for the evaluation of tall building developments -

6/19/13 Towering plans for Darling Harbour, despite city's concerns - too close together, cause overshadowing -

6/18/13 New super-strong rope to double world's tallest skyscrapers -

Cheers, Ralph
